The CBS 25-ha temperate broad-leaved Korean pine mixed forest plot in Changbaishan was established in 2004 (42°23′N, 128°05′E). The elevation varies from 791 m to 809m. Mean annual precipitation is approximately 700 mm and most of this occurs from June to September. Mean annual temperature is 2.8 ℃. There are 38, 902 genotype individuals (59,121 individuals with branch), belonging to 52 species, 32 genus and 18 families.

The GTS 24-ha subtropical evergreen broadleaved forest plot in Gutianshan was established in 2005 (29º15'N, 118º07'E). The mean annual rainfall is 1963.7mm. Annual average temperature is 15.3℃. The plot elevation varies from 446m to 714m and contains numerous extremely steep slopes, ranging from 12.8º~ 62º. There are 140, 700 individuals, belonging to 159 species, 103 genus and 49 families.
 
The DHS 20-ha lower subtropical evergreen broadleaved forest plot in Dinghushan was established in 2005 (23°09′N, 112°30′E). The mean annual rainfall is 1985 mm. Annual average temperature is 20.9℃. The plot elevation varies from 230m to 470 m. There are 71, 617 individuals, belonging to 210 species, 119 genus and 56 families.
 
The 20-ha tropical rain forest plot in Xishuangbanna, was set up in 2007, located in southwest China (101°34′E,21°36′N) . Annual average temperature is 21.8℃. The mean annual rainfall is 1493 mm, and the rain season is from May to October. A total of 95, 834 free-standing individuals with DBH ≥ 1 cm were recorded, belonging to 468 species, 213 genera, and 70 families.
