Abstract Erythrophleum fordii oliv is a famous hardwood tree distributed in South China and Vietnam. It is now endangered due to heavy exploitation and deforestation. Ten polymorphic microsatellite loci were isolated and characterized from it. The number of alleles per locus varied from two to six. The expected and observed heterozygosities ranged from 0.3802 to 0.6903, and 0.2083 to 0.7719, respectively. These microsatellite markers will provide genetic information upon which strategies for effective conservation and management could be based.
